IKEA RASKOG Trolley: Spare Parts, Variants and Assembly Guide

IKEA RASKOG Trolley: Spare Parts, Variants and Assembly Guide

The front wheel no longer turns. The bolt refuses to bite into the thread. A basket is missing from the delivery. The RASKOG is one of IKEA’s best-selling trolleys — and one of the ones whose parts circulate the most on forums. This page centralizes what you need to know to repair and assemble it without error.

What are the RASKOG variants?

The range is structured around two sizes and a version with a lid.

Model Dimensions (L x W x H) Max. load per shelf
RASKOG small 28 x 38 x 61 cm 4 kg
RASKOG large 35 x 45 x 77 cm 6 kg
RASKOG / NORRAVA (with lid) 35 x 45 x 77 cm 6 kg

The small version fits under most desks and is suitable for lightweight items. The large one is the reference model for the kitchen or workshop. The NORRAVA version adds a lid to the top basket — sold separately, compatible only with the 35 x 45 cm size.

The parts are not interchangeable between the two sizes. Always check the size of your trolley before ordering.

The wheels are also not all identical: two are directional with a brake, two are free. Ordering a standard wheel to replace a brake wheel is the most common mistake. The brake wheel is recognizable by its tilting lateral lever.

Assembly: the friction point to know

Assembly is quick. It presents only one recurring problem, well documented.

The baskets attach to the frame via bolts that must align with nuts integrated into the tubular structure. Assembled alone, the frame spreads slightly: the holes no longer align, the bolts do not bite.

The absolute rule: assemble the baskets with two people. One person compresses the frame, the other screws. If you are alone, a light clamp holds the frame in position.

Never force a misaligned bolt. This deforms the thread and makes replacement inevitable. A quarter turn after tightening by hand is sufficient — it is not a fixing under dynamic load.

Common problems and solutions

Bolts that do not bite. Almost systematic cause: solo assembly. Compress the frame, keep the bolt perpendicular before screwing. If the thread is already damaged, order a replacement bolt, checking the exact diameter — a bolt slightly too wide will not pass through the mesh.

Wheels that block. After a few months, fibers (hair, threads) accumulate in the axle. Disassemble the wheel, clean with fine pliers, reassemble. If the wheel is cracked, replace it — making sure to check if it is with or without a brake.

Corrosion. The epoxy finish does not resist prolonged humidity. Slight oxidation is treated by fine sanding and aerosol rust paint. Advanced corrosion on the tubular structure justifies replacing the part.

Missing parts on delivery. The IKEA customer service will send the missing parts without return of the furniture. Document with photos before contacting customer service.

Does the RASKOG hold up in a humid environment?

No. The epoxy finish protects against punctual humidity, not against prolonged exposure. A bathroom without ventilation or an exposed balcony accelerates corrosion, especially at the weld points. If your use is humid, ventilate regularly and avoid leaving wet objects on the baskets.

For permanent outdoor use, prefer a model in stainless steel or plastic.
