IKEA NORDLI Replacement Parts: Drawers, Slats and Wall-Mounted Headboard

IKEA NORDLI Replacement Parts: Drawers, Slats and Wall-Mounted Headboard

The front of your NORDLI drawer falls off every time you open it. Or a slat has cracked after a few months. These two issues account for the majority of reports concerning this bed. Here are the parts involved, where to find them, and what can realistically be repaired.

Identifying Your NORDLI Model

The NORDLI is available in two sizes: 160 x 200 cm (Queen) and 180 x 200 cm (King). Two colors are available: white and anthracite. Drawer fronts and certain internal clips differ from one shade to another – always specify the color when ordering.

The headboard is delivered in two separate parts. If you are looking for a replacement part, it corresponds to one half of the panel, not the whole assembly.

The range evolved between 2018 and 2020 with the addition of modular chest of drawer combinations. The references changed during this period. Check the year of purchase on your instructions or on the label under the frame.

Parts That Fail First

Drawer Front Clips: The Most Reported Problem

The NORDLI drawer front becomes detached after a few months of use. It no longer stays in place and "falls" every time it is opened. The almost systematic cause: the plastic clips that connect the front to the drawer box wear out or break.

The concrete problem: IKEA does not sell complete drawers online. You must go to the store and check availability at the spare parts service. If the drawer itself is cracked or deformed, contact IKEA customer service or consider replacing the entire unit.

Slats: Monitor the First Six Months

Broken slats within less than a year are frequently reported on the 180 x 200 cm model. The wood does not withstand point loads well: sitting on the edge, weight concentrated on two or three slats. The slats are available separately at IKEA – check the number and exact dimensions according to your model before ordering.

Headboard Wall Mounting

The NORDLI headboard is fixed directly to the wall, independently of the frame. The dowels and brackets provided are suitable for standard plasterboard partitioning. On a hollow wall, use Molly or toggle anchors. On concrete, opt for expansion anchors. If the dowels have torn out or the brackets are bent, these parts are replaceable at IKEA or in a standard hardware store – consult the diameter indicated in your instructions.

Mold Under the Mattress: Cause and Remedy

Several owners report traces of mold on the structure of the NORDLI, under the slats. The closed frame is poorly ventilated. Integrated drawers further worsen air circulation.

The solution: do not place the mattress directly without leaving a breathing space. Memory foam mattresses accentuate the problem. If mold has appeared, treat the structure before closing it: a coat of antifungal paint on the affected areas, then 48 hours of forced ventilation.

FAQ

Can I replace the NORDLI drawer slides with standard slides?
No. The soft-close mechanism of the NORDLI is specific in geometry and length. Generic slides are not compatible. NORDLI original parts are required.

I have lost my NORDLI instructions – where can I find them?
On the IKEA website, in the "Assembly Instructions" section, by searching for "NORDLI". Several versions exist depending on the years – take the one whose illustrations correspond to your model.

Can the headboard be fixed to a plasterboard wall?
Yes, but with suitable dowels: type Molly or toggle. The plastic dowels supplied by IKEA do not hold in hollow plasterboard.

Can a broken NORDLI drawer be replaced without buying the entire bed?
Theoretically yes, if the model is still in stock in the store. IKEA does not sell drawers online. In the store, the spare parts service may have them – but this is not guaranteed.
